Within the framework of the beneficial provisions of: Regulation (EC) 2080/ 2005, the Division of Production and Utilization of Horticulture Products and the Olive-tree Department of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the Organization of the Olive-Oil Industry Bodies that is subject to the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Korinthia, through the sound management of the aforementioned programme, carried out, in the three years from 2007 – 2009, a series of actions that have attributed to the maximum:

• To the creation of a base of data collection to help monitor the basic qualitative parameters of the incoming olive oil in order to store it in stainless steel tanks. The following step is the standardization of the olive oil at the facilities of the Union. This is the base for the further development of the traceability system because information concerning: the register of the olive oil producers, the land where the olive trees are cultivated, the olive-presses, the means of transport of the olive oil and the laboratory is given.
• To the improvement of the environmental consequences of the olive cultivation through the Study and Application of Codes of Correct Agricultural Methods to a series of olive groves that produce olive oil.
• To the improvement of the qualitative olive oil production through the optimization and planning of the harvest time and pressing of the olive-crop, using a special laboratory instrument which defines the content of oil and moisture in the crop.
• To the improvement of the sanitary conditions during the transportation of the olive-crop, through the establishment of plastic box-pallets to a great number of olive-oil producers.
• To the improvement of the quality of the EXTRA virgin olive oil using the excellent equipment of the chemical analysis laboratory which has instruments like gas and liquid chromatographer in order to measure the sterols, the peroxide, K constants, etc.
• Finally, another creation of the programme is the present website in which one can find pieces of information and notifications concerning the activities of the Organization of the Olive-Oil Industry Bodies and actions of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Korinthia. Moreover, the olive–oil producers, who have access to the system, can find the necessary information about their branch.
